Manthan has provided training to 15 midwives in 10 villages. First, the midwife is selected in a meeting of the village committee. The selected midwives are imparted training at least twice every year. They are provided training about the appropriate method for conducting the health check-ups of pregnant women, getting pregnant women immunised, identifying danger signs, increasing men’s awareness of their responsibilities in childbirth, encouraging families to go to the hospital for delivery, assistance in helping them to reach the hospital, information about emergency fund, preparations for delivery, importance of breastfeeding, child immunisation and family planning. The midwives are also provided a kit of proper instruments for use in case she carries out the delivery.

Manthan workers regularly monitors the working of the midwives through monthly meetings, monthly reports, checking of records and visits. Manthan also involves the midwives in identifying people who need support on any other health condition by identifying such people and bringing them into contact with Manthan. It also provides assistance to midwives if they face any difficulty.
