The Back to Basics Programme was launched with the vision of providing essential amenities such as clean water, safe housing, sustainable energy, warm clothing, and sanitation facilities to marginalized and underserved communities. The initiative focuses on uplifting excluded households and integrating them into mainstream society through impactful micro-projects, including water tanks, solar power units, roof construction, toilet installation, and distribution of seasonal clothing.
Through this programme, Manthan aims to empower vulnerable communities by addressing their most fundamental needs. Beyond improving living conditions, the programme seeks to build long-term, trust-based relationships with the people it serves, promoting sustainable development and inclusive growth.

Basic Amenity of House

Your description text
At Manthan, we believe a home is far more than just four walls—it is the foundation of security, dignity, and opportunity. For many vulnerable families in last-mile communities, especially in the Sambhar region, even this basic need remains unmet. Through our Back to Basics programme, we are committed to changing that.
The Shelter Project was launched to support households living in temporary or unsafe dwellings by replacing them with durable, weather-resistant, and secure homes. These shelters not only protect families from harsh weather, fire risks, and wild animals but also serve as safe spaces for sleeping, cooking, and storage—essentials for a life of stability.
So far, 76 tin-shed shelters have been constructed across 24 villages, ensuring safer, more dignified living conditions for over 400 individuals. This initiative is helping restore a sense of belonging and hope in communities that have long been on the margins.
Continuing this mission, three new homes have recently been completed—two in Bagariyo Ki Dhani (Aau village) and one in Bagariyo Ki Dhani (Jhakholai). Each new home stands as a testament to our ongoing commitment to uplift and empower those most in need.
With every home we build, we move one step closer to a future where no family is left without a safe place to call their own.

Spreading Warmth, One Family at a Time

To help underprivileged households withstand the harsh winters, Manthan has been actively distributing warm clothing and blankets to those in need. Since 2014, this initiative has benefitted over 2,000 families across 50 villages in the region.
Over the years, we have provided essential winter supplies including quilts, blankets, shawls, sweaters, and daily wear clothing to ensure that no one is left vulnerable to the cold. This ongoing effort reflects our commitment to protecting the dignity and well-being of marginalized communities—especially during the toughest seasons of the year.

Advancing Hygiene & Dignity Through Sanitation

Promoting hygiene and improving sanitation standards has always been a core focus at Manthan. As part of our efforts to ensure healthier living conditions, we have constructed 19 individual toilets and 4 community toilets across 10 villages.
These facilities not only help prevent the spread of disease but also restore dignity, privacy, and safety, particularly for women and children. With each toilet built, we move closer to creating cleaner, healthier, and more respectful communities.
