Tejaram Mali (Founder-Director)

Since, 1998 he is the Founder-Director of Manthan. He started as a night school teacher at Barefoot College, Tilonia while pursuing graduation. He also worked on the accounts and education department in the SWRC, Nallu. He worked at the education section in Tilonia where he initiated a science exhibition of everyday life in a mobile van; visiting different villages and explaining to children and adults about basic items and processes. Later on, he worked as the Education Co-ordinator and Development Coordinator at SWRC Management Group.

Sanjay Malakar (Operation Head)

With extensive experience in community-based filmmaking and outreach across India, he has successfully directed several acclaimed documentaries that highlight grassroots realities. His journey has taken him to the length and breadth of the country, where he has interacted closely with diverse communities, understood their challenges, and designed practical models to address their issues. This deep, on-ground understanding of people and their problems has shaped his unique approach to development and communication. Currently, he is spearheading operations at Manthan Sanstha, bringing a renewed wave of energy and direction. By channelizing the efforts of all stakeholders, he is driving sustainable and inclusive impact.

Swapna Sarita Mohanty (Communication Consultant)

Swapna Sarita Mohanty is a seasoned journalist and communication expert with years of experience across national and international media houses including DNA Zee, Rajasthan Patrika, First India, and more. Her unique journey spans both the newsroom and the nonprofit sector, having led communications for several prominent national and international NGOs. This dual experience gives her a deep understanding of how to shape narratives that matter — especially those emerging from rural communities. Swapna believes that communication is the strongest bridge between grassroots realities and mainstream visibility. Her expertise lies in crafting compelling, impact-driven stories that resonate widely and drive change. With a firm commitment to social impact, she ensures every untold rural story finds its voice on platforms where it truly matters.

Pusaram Meghwal (Water Coordinator)

“Hailing from the grassroots and having spent years working closely with the community, I believe that true upliftment begins with empowering people — because when the community rises, the entire society moves forward”

Pusaram Meghwal has been an integral part of Manthan since 2012. With education up to the 9th standard, his journey reflects deep grassroots experience and community leadership. From 1984 to 1994, he worked with Barefoot College, gaining valuable insights into rural development. He later ran a general store and tent house in his native village Kotri (1995–2005), fostering strong local connections. From 2007 to 2012, he served as the Chairman of the Gram Seva Sahkari Samiti in Kotri and was also a Board Member of the Marketing Society, Kishangarh. At Manthan, Pusaram coordinates volunteering and water-related initiatives, while also handling public relations with humility, commitment, and a strong understanding of community dynamics.

Chanda Mirdhwal (Project Coordinator)

“My aim is to build trust within the community and make every person feel empowered — to help them realise that they have every right to access the benefits they deserve as citizens.”

Chanda is a dynamic grassroots leader with strong expertise in community engagement, issue resolution, and team management. She currently leads a dedicated team that works across at least five panchayats in the Parvatsar region. Under her leadership, the team actively identifies local challenges, connects with people, and takes necessary actions to address their problems. Chanda is presently heading a crucial project focused on creating awareness about government schemes and ensuring that the benefits reach those who are often left out. From health services to pension schemes, she helps bridge the gap between the government and the people. Her work reflects a deep commitment to empowering rural communities and ensuring that every voice is heard and every need is addressed.

Nisha (Project Coordinator)

“My aim is to teach children and guide them to become not just smarter, but better human beings”

Nisha’s journey with Manthan began when she was just 4 years old, herding goats in her village. With the encouragement of Manthan’s director, her family supported her education, and she enrolled in the Manthan Day School. Over the years, Nisha worked hard and went on to complete her bachelor’s degree—an inspiring milestone in her community.

Today, Nisha leads a Manthan initiative that educates government school students about the Constitution, their rights, and the importance of active citizenship. Her transformation from a child laborer to an educator and leader is a powerful example of what support, education, and determination can achieve. Nisha is not just a success story—she’s an inspiration for many.
